What is the Bible Sabbath Association UK?

The following churches or groups observe the Sabbath day in the UK. They hold church services on Saturday. We do not endorse any group remaining neutral in aspects of doctrine.

The only requirement to be listed is a belief in Jesus Christ (Yeshua) as the Messiah, and a belief in God's Sabbath day. Some groups will observe the festivals of Leviticus 23, these are groups known as Churches of God with the exceptions of Church of God 7th day and Seventh Day Adventist groups.

We have chosen to list some groups outside of the UK for research purposes, their inclusion does not mean that we support the activities of the group, and where possible this has been made plain.

Seventh Day Baptists

 

 

In 1995, the Seventh Day Baptists had 78 churches with 4885 members in the United States, 2 churches with 55 members in England, and 1 church of 40 members in Canada. Conferences exist in other countries as well. The Seventh Day Baptist World Federation was founded in 1964/1965, and it now claims to represent over 50,000 Baptists in 17 member organizations in 22 countries.

 

The First Seventh Day Baptist Church in Birmingham

 

The first Seventh-Day Baptist Church in Birmingham was established in 1964 by a Black immigrant from Jamaica. It's initial membership was comprised of individuals who came from various denominations. These persons were convinced about upholding the fourth commandment in the Bible which states 'Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.' Mormons - The Original Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints

 

The original church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints is a Saturday Sabbath keeping Mormon church/temple. It holds many of the doctrines of the Mormon faith whilst maintaining a belief in the Sabbath day. Although at present we are not aware of any groups in the UK, it is listed here for reference.

Tehudah means New Testament. The movement is a form of Judaism that accepts the message of the New Testament and Jesus Christ as the "suffering" servant. Some may also accept the Koran as authoritative alongside the Old and New Testaments.

Messianic Judaism

 

 

Firstfruits of Zion,an American Messianic teaching resource has been delisted from the Bible Sabbath Association UK because of their recent change in doctrine. They have abandoned the long held belief that Torah observance is a requirement for Gentiles or at least the "goal" of a redeemed life for Gentile believers. We cannot in all good consciousness recommend any of their literature, some of which is tainted with the kabbalah. We recommend Torah Resources.

 

 

Grimsby Bible Assembly

 

They have been involved in the Messianic Movement in the UK since the early 80's. The aim isto live a Biblical lifestyle and worship on Sabbath (Friday sundown to Saturday sundown). They celebrate the Feasts of YHWH as laid out in the Torah and do not acknowledge the traditional  church calendar.

Netzarim (Only Recognised Group - Nazarene Jews)

 

 

The Netzarim in Israel are the only recognised group within Nazarene Judaism by some Orthodox Rabbis. Conversion into the Netzarim will allow people to settle in Israel. The Netzarim trace their roots to the early first century Netzarim following a strict Orthodox commitment within Judaism. It is important to note that they view themselves to be the only official representative of the Nazarene Judaism movement.

 

The Netzarim movement was started by a former Baptist preacher who is recognized by Orthodox rabbis as an Orthodox Jew in good standing. They believe in the authority of the Old Testament, and the book of Matthew believing "the NT reflects exclusively the post-4^th-century Hellenist Roman Christianity that was, and is, intractably antithetical to the original, 1^st-century, N^etzarim Jews. The earliest extant Church historian, Eusebius (260-340 C.E.), documented that the N^etzarim never accepted the NT, approving only their own Hebrew (not Greek) Matityahu (EH, III, xxvii, 2-6)." The movement rejects the writings of Paul.

Ebionite Jewish Communtiy

 

 

The Ebionites can be traced to the time of Jesus. They believed in vegetarianism, did not accept Paul's teachings and believed Jesus to have undertaken a messianic mission bringing a message of repentance. Today the movement, in small numbers has been re-established. They of course adhere strictly to the Torah. We are not aware of any groups in the UK.
