Jewish Resources

The following is a list of support groups for people of the Jewish faith to help them overcome their addictions or dependencies and other related support agencies. These resources may be of interest to other people.

Beit T'Shuvah (USA) - To treat and prevent addictive and behavioral disorders through the combination of Jewish spirituality, the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and psychotherapy.

Gateway Rehab Center (USA) - Gateway, a not for profit organization, was founded in 1972 by Abraham J. Twerski, MD, an internationally known author, lecturer, teacher and physician.  It was opened as a 28 day abstinence based alcohol and drug dependence treatment center.  Now Gateway offers a variety of services in multiple locations.

HaDerech (Israel) - Situated in Nes Amim, HaDerech is a 45 bed non-profit treatment center designed for the treatment of substance abuse.Residential care is provided for individuals struggling with the disease of addiction and its impact on their lives.

House of Hope (USA) - The House of Hope is a non-profit recovery house for Jewish men who are in the various stages of recovery from Drug & Alcohol Abuse. We provide a structured environment where residents can work on their recovery while re-establishing a normal life in the community.

JACS (USA) -Encourage and assist Jewish alcoholics, chemically dependent persons and their families, friends and associates to explore recovery in a nurturing Jewish environment by conducting retreats and other events that provide support to Jews in recovery.

Jewish Care (UK) - Jewish Care's Mental Health services are at the leading edge of mental health development and have been designed to ensure users and their carers receive substantial practical support and advice in coping with mental health illness.

Jewish Aids Trust (UK) - Established as a charity in 1988, the Jewish AIDS Trust aims to provide the Jewish community with education, counselling and support in connection with HIV infection and AIDS.

Jewish Big Brother and Big Sister League (USA) - To foster connections within the Jewish community by providing professional support for relationships between volunteers and Jews who are currently or potentially at risk; to provide addictions education, prevention, and counseling services; and to offer services to Jewish offenders and their families.

Jewish Care (UK) - Provides services to those people who have addictions. They also provide many other services for the Jewish community.

Information on social and welfare issues, residential and day care services, local synagogues, education, cultural issues, lifestyle, leisure.

Jewish Family Service (USA) - In the Seattle area, advice is available to people suffering from addictive behaviours.

Jewish Marriage Council (UK) - Information relating to Jewish marriages.

Jewish Visitation (UK) - Jewish Bereavement Counselling Service and Hospital Chaplaincy Service.

Ohr Ki Tov/Carlebach - (USA) - Do you feel the need to talk with someone? Ohr Ki Tov/Carelbach helps you fill that empty space inside. We are known for our pioneering efforts on behalf of Jews in trouble.

Retorno - Retorno is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to helping Jews throughout the world tackle their addiction problems.

Tova House (USA) - Tova House is to provide the opportunity to Jewish women, ravaged by the diseases of drug and alcohol addictions, to become drug and alcohol free by entering into a clean, safe, and clinically supervised residential program.

The Yatzkan Center (USA)- The Yatzkan Center, founded in April 2001 has treated over 100 Jewish adolescents ranging from 14 to 19 years of age. Our program is a long-term variable length of stay residential rehab for substance abusers and those with dual diagnosis.
